Choosing Knobs for a Dresser
Start with the drawer front rather than the finish. Its width, weight, and existing hole position will narrow the choices before color or shape enters the decision.
Look at the drawer proportions
A small knob can keep a narrow drawer from looking crowded. A larger knob may give your fingers more surface to hold, but its scale should be checked against the drawer front. Product dimensions provide a better guide than photos alone.
Decide between one knob and two
One centered knob may suit a small drawer. A wide drawer may use two knobs when the drawer construction and existing hole pattern allow it. Mark the proposed positions with removable tape before drilling so you can check the spacing from a normal viewing distance.
Check the grip
Projection determines how much room sits behind the knob. A decorative shape may look right but feel different from a round profile, so compare the dimensions and edges shown on the product page.
Work with the existing holes
When replacing a one-hole knob, inspect the old hole and measure the drawer-front thickness. A new hole may not be needed when the mounting point and screw requirements match. For a wider grip, compare dresser drawer pulls before changing the drilling pattern.
