How to choose black cabinet pulls
Check the selected black finish
Many products in this collection are sold in several colors. Open the product page and select Black or Matte Black before adding an item to your cart. Compare the selected variant photos as well. A smooth black surface and a low-sheen matte finish can look different under the same room lighting.
Match the existing mounting holes
For replacement hardware, remove one old pull and measure from the center of one screw hole to the center of the other. Match that number to the center-to-center option on the product page. Overall handle length is a separate measurement. Use the cabinet pull measuring guide if you need help checking the holes.
Check grip and clearance
Look at the pull's projection and end shape as well as its length. A low-profile pull can suit a narrow walkway, while a deeper grip may feel better on a large or heavy drawer. If the ends extend past the mounting posts, check that they will not catch loose clothing near an island, vanity or dresser.
Compare one sample in the room
Black can look crisp on light cabinets and much quieter on dark cabinetry. Room lighting also changes how matte or reflective the finish appears. Order a handle or pull sample, or use the Free Style Preview to compare a selected pull with your cabinet color and nearby fixtures.
Follow the product care details
Base material and coating affect how a black finish wears. Check the specifications for the selected item rather than assuming every black pull is made or finished the same way. For routine care, use a soft damp cloth and mild soap, then dry the surface. Avoid abrasive pads, bleach and metal polish unless the product instructions say they are safe. The cabinet hardware finish guide has a fuller comparison of black, brass, nickel and chrome.
